The former five-star has had a pair of ACL tears over the last few years. In 2017, as a senior, White tore his ACL late in the season. He actually didn’t realize the extend of the injury until Georgia’s medical staff took a look, ahead of him joining the program. He had a pretty quick turnaround, and was set to play last season, but weeks ahead of the start of the 2018 campaign, White tore his other ACL. That occurred in Georgia practice, during a punt drill.Once again, White is working his way back, but Kirby Smart and company are going to let him recover at his own pace.On Tuesday, Kirby Smart gave an update on Zamir White’s injury status as we enter spring. From 247Sports:“I don’t know that I can answer [how much he’ll contribute.] That’s going to come in fall camp,” Smart said. “I think any time you have a non-contact ACL and then you have a second one, you’ve got to be careful because we’re talking about two different knees and completely non-contact injuries. When that happens, it makes you, hey, is the kid going to be able to progress this time as fast as he did last time. For us, he’s going to be able to do some. He’s running. He’s running really well. He’s doing a lot of straight-line stuff. He’s just not going to be involved in the scrimmage and in the contact part.”That sounds relatively optimistic, but don’t expect to see much from White until the summer and fall. And even then, he plays at a position at which Georgia has plenty of talent. D’Andre Swift returns after leading the team with 1,049 yards and 10 touchdowns in 2018.Still, White has the potential to be a big-time college star. As a five-star member of the 2018 class, he was the top running back in the country, and No. 9 overall per 247Sports.[247Sports]last_img
