Yaya Toure has confirmed interest from Scottish Premiership leaders Celtic, though he says he must speak with Brendan Rodgers before any decision is made. The midfielder completed an eight-year spell with Manchester City last summer, leaving the club at the end of the season.Toure won three Premier League titles, three League Cups, an FA Cup and a Community Shield as a player on the blue side of Manchester. His next stop was a short one, as Toure rejoined Olympiakos, the team he had spent the 2005-06 season with. Despite only signing in September, Toure’s contract was terminated three months later via mutual consent.Reports have linked him with a move to Celtic, who are tied with Rangers atop the Scottish Premiership in points, where his brother Kolo is an assistant under Rodgers. And speaking on Sky Sports’ Monday Night Football, Toure admitted there is interest from the Scottish club, but will require further discussions with the manager before any agreement is reached.“Celtic are a great team, but I will speak to Brendan Rodgers there and we will see what happens,” Toure said.Manchester City remain competitive on all fronts this season, and the quadruple, winning in the Premier League, Champions League, Carabao Cup and FA Cup, still remains a possibility.Going hard in all four of the competitions could end up being a detriment for City as they not only aim to secure Champions League glory for the first time, but also overtake Liverpool in the Premier League. But Toure believes Pep Guardiola is intent on not sacrificing any competition, and hopes to win them all.“I think now the big question is if City are going to go for the Premier League or the Champions League or the League Cup or the FA Cup?” Toure said. “I don’t think so, I think he’s going to go for all of them.“I think the Champions League is the big, big one. To be honest, the cups – the League Cup and the FA Cup – can become a distraction.“Why? Because the Champions League and the Premier League is the big, big target for Man City.”Asked about whether it was a different situation in Spain with the top clubs there compared to England, Toure said he thinks it is, noting how difficult the English top flight is.“Yes, to be honest it is different,” Toure said. “Different, different, different type of football.“The Premier League is one of the top leagues in the world. In Spain, these teams – Real Madrid and Barcelona – have been recently winning Champions League but the Premier League is the competition. The physicality is so, so high.“And I hope he will do it. It’ll be good for the fans and good for the football club.”Let’s believe it. I know it’s not going to be easy but I hope City will try to do it.”
NORMAN, OK – SEPTEMBER 11: The Oklahoma Sooner Schooner carries the American flag on the anniversary of September 11 at Gaylord Family Oklahoma Memorial Stadium on September 11, 2010 in Norman, Oklahoma. (Photo by Ronald Martinez/Getty Images)The Oklahoma Sooners are the favorites in the Big 12 once again this season. They’re also expected to compete for the national championship. But that doesn’t mean the Sooners don’t have weaknesses. Every team does, and they aren’t immune. Most would assume Oklahoma’s biggest question mark involves the quarterback position. Baker Mayfield is gone, and it is up to Kyler Murray to replace at least most of his prodigious production.ESPN, however, thinks the Sooners’ most glaring issue is on the other side of the ball.ESPN Big 12 reporter Jake Trotter labeled safety as Oklahoma’s “biggest question mark” in a feature that dropped today. The Sooners should be improved at cornerback, but safety remains a huge concern. Incoming freshman Brendan Radley-Hiles, who starred in the spring, is already assured of manning either nickelback or back safety. But OU will need others to emerge to solidify a secondary that has been unreliable the past two seasons.Oklahoma will face its fair share of prolific passing offenses in the Big 12, so a sturdy pass defense is a must. We’ll see if safety is as big of an issue as Trotter projects it to be.You can read the rest of ESPN’s analysis on the entire preseason Top 25 here.
MADISON, WI – NOVEMBER 15: Snow falls on the endzone during play between the Nebraska Cornhuskers and the Wisconsin Badgers at Camp Randall Stadium on November 15, 2014 in Madison, Wisconsin. (Photo by Ronald Martinez/Getty Images)The 2019 recruiting class is not believed to be a good one for quarterbacks. Some analysts are calling it the worst QB class they’ve ever seen. There’s not a ton of depth or elite talent at the top.The best quarterback in the class might be Graham Mertz, a four-star pro-style quarterback out of Kansas. “I’ve heard from coaches that (he) is the best QB recruit nationally and gotta say, he looks damn good at Elite 11,” says SB Nation Recruiting.Mertz is currently committed to Wisconsin. However, the commitment to the Badgers might not last…Several other major programs are pursuing Mertz hard. Despite the fact that he’s committed to Wisconsin, those programs are making him a serious priority. Both Ohio State and Notre Dame have made him their No. 1 QB target.A flipped commitment might be on the table.“Notre Dame working hard to flip him from Wisconsin,” says Irish Illustrated.Good show from Irish quarterback target Graham Mertz at Elite 11. It’s unclear if Mertz will start taking visits to other schools.Stay tuned.

Typically, Urban Meyer teams fare extremely well in games following a loss. Many were expecting a blowout win for Ohio State today. So far, though, it’s been more of the same frustrating play for Urban Meyer’s Ohio State team. The Buckeyes are officially on “Upset Alert” once again, actually. It’s Nebraska 21, No. 10 Ohio State 16 at Ohio Stadium in Columbus, Ohio.Ohio State players left the field to boos. The odds suggest that mistakes will continue and Ohio State will have opportunities to take advantage of them.Still, this is extremely troubling for Urban Meyer and Co. The Buckeyes clearly still have a ton of issues to take care of.Ohio State and Nebraska are playing on FOX. The second half should begin soon.

AUBURN, AL – NOVEMBER 25: Head coach Gus Malzahn of the Auburn Tigers reacts after a touchdown by the Alabama Crimson Tide was overturned after review during the fourth quarter at Jordan Hare Stadium on November 25, 2017 in Auburn, Alabama. (Photo by Kevin C. Cox/Getty Images)Auburn and head coach Gus Malzahn are reportedly close to a new agreement to remain with the program. Earlier this week, rumors suggested Malzahn would be replaced by former Oklahoma head coach Bob Stoops, though those rumors were quieted by Stoops himself. Now, Auburn is in the midst of reducing Malzahn’s buyout and allowing him to return for the 2019 season.According to Phillip Marshall of 247Sports, Auburn plans to reduce Malzahn’s “by an unspecified amount.”Here’s more from the report:Malzahn’s buyout, sources said, would be reduced by an unspecified amount. Any coaching staff moves would have to be revenue neutral, effectively removing the possibility of paying buyouts for assistant coaches and assuring Chip Lindsey would remain as offensive coordinator unless he chooses to leave. The move effectively makes it easier to move on from Malzahn in the future. In six season as the team’s head coach, Malzahn racked up a 52-27 record and six bowl games.Stay tuned for more on the coaching front.[247Sports]
