With this move, all three Class-I carriers are now competing for wind component business in the region as BNSF Railway and Union Pacific Rail Road (UP) began offering rail services to major manufacturers of wind energy components through Port Corpus Christi last year. KCSR worked with Port Corpus Christi to coordinate the move, and Kansas City Southern de México S.A. de C.V. helped coordinate transportation and car distribution. “We are very pleased to be able to work with KCSR. Having one more Class -I rail option to move the wind components from our port, along with our deep uncongested channel and strategically location in the Gulf of Mexico, gives the Port a better opportunity to serve the growth of wind energy components and other project cargoes.” said, John LaRue, executive director.
The European Commission is expected to announce its verdict on Alstom’s restructuring plan on July 7, two days ahead of the company’s annual general meeting.Discussions on the restructuring of the company have continued since the basis of an agreement was brokered between French Minister of Finance Nicolas Sarkozy and European Competition Commissioner Mario Monti in May (RG 6.04 p369), much of the debate focusing on what partnerships Alstom must agree to in the future. While the Commission wanted a firm commitment, Chairman & Chief Executive Patrick Kron confined his comments on this in Alstom’s annual report filed on June 17 to a statement that ’we intend to implement, within the next four years, industrial partnerships to ensure our future development’.Alstom had announced on May 26 that it would not make any significant acquisitions in the transport sector within Europe over the next four years, and that it would dispose of businesses represent €1·5bn in sales. These include the locomotive factory in Valencia and the company’s transport activities in Australia and New Zealand.Alstom announced on June 11 that it had signed an agreement to co-operate in the manufacture of locomotives with CNR Datong Electric Locomotive Co in China. This was signed in Paris by Alstom Transport President Philippe Mellier, Cui Dianguo, President of China Northern Locomotive & Rolling Stock Industry (Group) Corp, and Datong President Shi Xiaoding in the presence of French Prime Minister Jean-Pierre Raffarin and Vice-Premier of China Zeng Peiyan.

Marvel Studios(LOS ANGELES) — In a unified message posted to their social media pages, the stars of Guardians of the Galaxy — Chris Pratt, Zoe Saldana, Dave Bautista, Michael Rooker, Vin Diesel, Bradley Cooper, Pom Klementieff and brother Sean Gunn — have rallied in support of their ousted director James Gunn. The filmmaker behind the first two blockbuster Guardians movies was recently fired from Volume 3 by Marvel Studios parent company Disney, after offensive old tweets of his were unearthed. The firing sent shockwaves through Hollywood, and fans started a petition to ask Disney — Marvel and ABC News’ parent company — to reinstate him. This newest post from the film’s stars begins, “To our friends and fans: We fully support James Gunn.”The lengthy message continues, in part: “We were all shocked by his abrupt firing last week and have intentionally waited these days to respond in order to think, pray, listen, and discuss.”They say “being in the Guardians of the Galaxy movies has been a great honor in each of our lives. We cannot let this moment pass without expressing our love, support, and gratitude for James.”“We are not here to defend his jokes of many years ago,” but, they add, “The character he has shown in the wake of his firing is consistent with the man he was every day on set, and his apology, now and from years ago when first addressing these remarks, we believe is from the heart, a heart we all know, trust, and love,” the letter states. “We believe the [movie’s] theme of redemption has never been more relevant than now.”The message concludes with a hope that, “what has transpired can serve as an example for all of us to realize the enormous responsibility we have to ourselves and to each other regarding the use of our written words.”Copyright © 2018, ABC Radio.
