first_imgThe Creative Media Industries Institute (CMII) at Georgia StateUniversity invites applications for a Lecturer position in CreativeIndustries Entrepreneurship. The position will begin in August2021, pending budgetary approval. An earned Ph.D., MBA or MFAdegree in a field related to creative industries entrepreneurshipis required (e.g., emerging media technologies and funding modelsfor media enterprises, arts entrepreneurship, or degrees in mediaproduction such as film or music technology where trainingconnected to specific industry pipelines). Candidates who areexpected to receive their degrees by July 2021 will be considered.Preference will be given to candidates with prior experience inteaching entrepreneurship or creative industry courses.Entrepreneurial experience and knowledge of advanced technologycontent creation systems are both preferred.The lecturer will be responsible for designing and teachingundergraduate courses related to creative industriesentrepreneurship in their area of expertise, with possible coursesincluding New Ventures in Creative Media, Media BusinessDevelopment, Managing the Creative Enterprise, or others. CMIIoffers an undergraduate major in Media Entrepreneurship, among theuniversity’s fastest growing and now enrolling 450 majors, wherestudents combine industry production and entrepreneurship pipelinecourses with creative specializations in the film and television(including animation and VFX), music, and videogame industries.Majors are also interested in the broader matters of branding,marketing, social media campaign creation, and with othertraditional creative sectors such as fashion and graphic design. Anability to connect to a range of student sectoral interests isstrongly encouraged.Lecturers at Georgia State University teach eight coursesannually and perform departmental service but are not required tosustain a traditional research program. We anticipate that theservice commitment connected to this position will be to coordinatethe CMII media entrepreneurship incubator, along with other normaldepartmental committee work.
