The encounter sparked the idea for the Bairds to start a job board called “Hire Marines”.The website took off, and Mark and Tori even got a call from the Admiral of the Navy who asked if sailors could also use the service. The Bairds were thrilled and renamed their web site, Hire Patriots, with the goal of providing work for veterans.(LEARN more about the job board’s success at Brad Aronson’s blog) – Photo credit: Mario Tama/Getty ImagesAddThis Sharing ButtonsShare to FacebookFacebookFacebookShare to TwitterTwitterTwitterShare to EmailEmailEmailShare to RedditRedditRedditShare to MoreAddThisMorelast_img read more

Signalisation et automatismes ferroviaires – Railway signalling & automation

first_imgCo-ordinated by Walter Schön BOOK REVIEW: This three-volume overview of signalling and train control has been compiled by academics and engineers associated with the masters degree course in railways and guided transport systems which has been offered by French engineering universities since 2008. Aimed at present and future rail professionals, the book is intended to give a complete, rather than exhaustive, introduction to the subject. Although having their basis in French railway practice, the bilingual books address other operational and technical concepts from around the world, and have been endorsed by the Institution of Railway Signal Engineers. They cover both main line and urban rail networks, including automated metros and trams. Volume 1 provides an introduction to the ‘environment’ of railway signalling, and its relationship with operating principles, track, electrification and rolling stock, which all influence the development and use of train control systems. Volume 2 covers the essential functions of railway signalling, the safety issues to be addressed, and the different technologies that have been used in the past and present, before considering the factors that will influence future developments. Volume 3 looks at specific applications of the various principles and provides technical descriptions of selected signalling and train control systems which are currently being used. Goal Drought Will Motivate Ronaldo – Sarri

first_imgJuventus coach Maurizio Sarri believes that Cristiano Ronaldo will only be more motivated to reaffirm his greatness after his recent goal slump for the Italian champions. The Portuguese returned from injury to start Juve’s 1-0 Champions League win over Atletico Madrid on Tuesday but the 34-year-old has hit a slump in form by his sky-high standards after failing to score in his last four games for the Turin giants.Champions Juve, who host Sassuolo on Sunday as they look to maintain their one-point lead over Inter Milan at the top of Serie A, will have Ronaldo available — and Sarri would not be surprised to see a champion’s response from the Portuguese.“Players who are used to scoring are always anxious to score goals, they are used to finding the net regularly, so they are amazed when they don’t manage to for a few games,” Sarri told reporters on Saturday.“It’s the same for Ronaldo, like all the great players. I think it’s a healthy attitude because it gives him motivation.“Clearly Ronaldo is not a player like all the others. It’s pointless to think that all the players are equal.“If someone were to not accept that situation, it would be a problem for them and not for the team, but I see no such issues. Everyone is crystal clear.“Cristiano is an immense resource. He has stamina, but perhaps lacks a little in sharpness right now, which is only to be expected.“We have three forwards of enormous potential who are alternating, so we always expect a lot from them.”Relatedlast_img read more
